The image on the right can be dated to about 1909 based on the buildings seen. The photo to the left is probably earlier but no earlier than 1901 when the railroad was built.
To orient yourself, imagine you are standing on the top of Bow Hill, about in the middle of Bow Hill road, looking West. Bow Hill road may have run approximately between these 2 pictures.
The straight horizontal line you see running left to right through the middle of both images is the railroad tracks. In the picture on the right, 10 railroad box cars can be made out. Beyond the town is the virgin forest that is now blueberry fields.
To the left, hidden by smoke or steam, is the Mill pictured on our main page taken by Kinsey. The top of the smokestack can just be seen above the smoke and to the right the base of the water tower is also visible. This entire area; south of were Bow Hill road now runs, has been entirely erased and is now raspberry fields, almost half the original town.
To the right, the East end of Bow Street can be seen above the letters WN, and a little to the right. The Bow General Store is directly above the word Bow. You can easily see the 4 upper story windows. Lucy`s house is across the street, you can see the small dormer. The Blacksmith shop, also pictured on our main page, is just above the word of. You can see the open door and business sign above the shop.
Of all the buildings pictured here, only the Bow General Store and the house we now call Lucys, still exist.
